| 177838 | 2003-09-25 07:16:00 | Hey, I have a adsl modem on my desktop and i need it on my laptop in my room i have LAN as well and when i connect the adsl strat to the laptop i get the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! so lan internet is so slow and i need adsl on my laptop so is there ANY SOFTWARE DAT CAN DIVERT INTERNET ON TO MY LAPTOP BY LAN? | 177840 | 2003-09-25 08:59:00 | Yes there is. You can either use a proxy based program, or Internet Connection Sharing (assuming you have WinME or above running on the desktop). ICS would be the better option in the sense that it acts as a gateway for the laptop and all connections can go through in comparison to a proxy which you will manually have to configure on the laptop and some programs (MSN Messenger to name one) have problems accessing the internet through Proxies. How is your network setup? Laptop connects to the desktop with a crossover cable? Sharing files on your network isn't slow? What have you specified as your DNS Servers and DNS Host on the laptop? Also, have you run a trace route on a website to see where the bottleneck in the connection is? CyberChuck |
