| 178262 | 2003-09-26 11:24:00 | I have save various files in Microsoft Word using a CD-R. The programme used for burning to the CD is Nero. Problem: When I used a file on the CD as a template, and then tried to save the new work, it refuses to save indicating that the original is a "Read Only'file. I have tried getting rid of the Read only but to no avail. I am using Windows XP Home as my operating system. Is there a fix for this please? | Smurf (506) | ||

You can read the file off the CD and edit it if you want then use File, Save As to save the file. At this point you give the file another name. Don't use File, Save Use File, Save As. I hope I made it clear. |

Even when I have used Save as using a different file name to the original, the result is still the same...it will not allow me to save. | Smurf (506) | ||

| 178266 | 2003-09-26 23:00:00 | I am thinking the same as Oxie. Make a copy of the file from the CD and use that for your template. Remember to remove the Read Only attribute before you open the file and try saving it as another name prior to using it. Let us know how you get on. |
