178318 2003-09-27 09:51:00 What program are you trying to play it with on your computer? Susan B (19)
178319 2003-09-27 09:59:00 oops, i should of made myself more clear. The drive wont even read the disc, so i cant play it with any program at all. michael y (1623)
178320 2003-09-27 10:01:00 I have a few cd's that do that, brought in NZ, I have a Diamond Data CDRW (40x24x10) promethius (1998)
178321 2003-09-27 10:09:00 Disable auto-play,then use something like cdx(i think thats what its called)to extract the songs to your harddrive.

Thier idea of copy protection is putting data on the cd that confuses the computer as it tries to read it.

178323 2003-09-27 11:03:00 This is an example of microsoft messing up again. It's a result of some security issues. It was addresed in a pcworld mag a few months back. Can you run copied audio disks? Is it just the one audio disk that won't work? smashedlittlebugger (4397)
178324 2003-09-27 11:21:00 yep, i can run the audio disks i backed up. michael y (1623)
178325 2003-09-27 12:43:00 hey everyone

I tried running cdex but no go, I disabled auto-play by going to gpedit, ran cdex and then loaded in the disk but no disk was detected. I tried my copied disk and it was detected after a couple of seconds.

"smashedlittlebugger" i dont ahve the pcworld disks, so i cant get the security updates, is it possible to get it from microsoft website??

thx guys

178326 2003-09-27 12:54:00 Is it possible this disc is actually a dvd-audio disc? Can you confirm it is actually a cd.

Try EAC (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de) out, it is very good for defeating copy protection.
