| 178288 | 2003-09-27 01:53:00 | A friend of mine has suddenly not been able to dial his ISP. Of course, Mr Murphy exists and he can't call Mr PC Company ;-{ His dialup suddenly stopped showing the ISP dialup connection, nor could he create a new one. Occasionally it would re-appear but mostly stayed away. I've suggested after a complete virus-check (I downloaded the latest updates for his virus checker to floppy) that he should then try deleting the modem from the system & hopefully have the system re-detect it & thus end up with a working system once more. And of course, another friend rang this morning with a very similar problem (unable to dial). Apparently PC Coy replaced the modem but said a complete reinstall was required (a few weeks ago now) & he hadn't got round to it til now. Anyone heard of problems like this, & got any other ideas how to rectify it (short of a complete re-install / recovery)? |

| 178293 | 2003-09-27 02:22:00 | Have you ever gone to the Network and Dial-Up Connections Group only to discover that the only available icon is one that lets you define a new dial-up connection? Or, alternatively, when you start the Make New Connection Wizard, the only available options are Dial-up to the Internet or Accept Incoming Connections Is that what happens wif ur computer? am just looking on the web for some answers...as its lost me too but i aint giving up.. |
