178621 2003-09-29 06:12:00 It wouldn't hurt to reinstall Outlook Express to try and bring back the spell checker.

Not sure which version of Windows you are running but a repair of Internet Explorer/Outlook Express may fix it for you. This can be done via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

Alternatively you might like to try another email client. I find Eudora very good - it is available in a free advert-sponsored version to try if you wish. Others are Thunderbird, Pegasus Mail and Foxmail. Thunderbird would be my second choice. :-)

178622 2003-09-29 07:05:00 You need a file called csapi3t1.dll. This is part of 98 SE. And installs with 98 BUT not XP, and obviously not 2000. This is the file that the spellcheck needs, in OE. And yup you also need office. Dont know if Works will work. Haven't got it. BUT this csapi3t1.dll should be copied to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof

Then spelling will work.

Other than that, u can get freeware spellcheckers somewhere on the net.

Not sure that this will help. I Run Outlook Express 6, with the latest upgrades etc. When I upgraded from Office 97 to Office 2000 Premium Edition a few months ago it did not impact on the spell checking of OE. I don't want to sound too basic, but have you checked out OE>Tools>Options>Spelling?
