179075 2003-09-30 10:32:00 My daughter has just spent 6 weeks in hospital thanks to a drug addict on methadone with bad driving skills. She will be off work for a further 8 weeks and, once the morphine is out of her system, will probably be anti-drugs for life.

Her opponent may never be the same again due to a lack of safety belt so is paying for her sins big time.

You could say we're very anti-drugs round here!

As for morning versus night - I've seen pictures of sunrises and think they're wasted at that time of night.

Are any of these drug users interested in computers and technology to the point where they know more about them and use them more often than most other people?

179077 2003-09-30 13:20:00 Doesnt like even puffing heated liquid glue destroy braincells? Cos in my primary skool in Papua New Guinea many of my mates did god knows wot, they wouldnt turn up for skool for like half a year, but they wernt like retards or stoners, they still operated at the sufficient level, and everyday my teacher would tell the class that even smellin heated liquid glu was bad and destroyed brain cells and made people dumb and would screw up their future. I will never forget those words, they have kept me clear of drugs this long, and i know for a fact that i wont even be tryin them in the future. vk_dre (195)
179078 2003-09-30 13:22:00 I think that most real g33k'z know what drugs can do to you.. and its lie's if you think you're "Only using a lil" or anything like that, coz you're still doing it.

"If you have to ask 'is it wrong', then you already know the answer"

And I think that's true.
Most people know how bad it can be.

Prescription drugs, I'll take.. I rarely get sick, but have hayfever, and depended on a spray for about 6 months one summer... Ever woken up to find yourself sneezing over 20 times within a minute?

I've seen the best of guys live's go down the tube because of drugs. I know a friend who cant for 45 minutes without Methane phetamine.... he was doing so well.... and got into drugs and turned his life around. Sadly, it was not for the better.

"There's always another way"

Ever seen Minority Report? Its true...

I can say for myself that life wasnt to great at times, but there's always a better way than "losing yourself" or whatever... I know a friend who got into that... he's regretting it now coz he's behind bars...

I think real g33k'z are just too smart for that to be honest. Im not saying that people who do it are dumb, but they know what drugs can do, even "controlled amounts" lead to worse.

To be honest, I'd rather vent my anger by fragging some Covenant alien in Halo than do drugs ;-)

Just my two cents worth..

Oh, and as you can see by the time I posted this, I'd rather do nights... havent been to sleep before 2am in the last 2 months now.. Up at 8am every day... There's just not enough hours in the day :p

Cheers

Me too, but I usually get to sleep in so I catch up on the lost sleep :) If you can't catch up on the sleep you missed I recommend not going to bed so late. Otherwise your schoolwork suffers, your immune system suffers and you might be a bit cranky during the day. ;)

179082 2003-09-30 19:27:00 Heather, sorry to hear about your daughter. That's a whole other point - the completely unrelated people that become victims. I hope she's okay. I hope she will be okay, I've had friends smash themselves up pretty bad by slipping next to the pool and tripping over a chain to get to their car (and one that got hit by a logging truck whilst on a moto-x bike, which is usually more serious). Recovery can take a long time, be strong for her.

I have it on good authority that morphine is not addictive when used in hospital situations (and believe me I have been around it a lot in the last couple of months as my Dad was dying and my step-mum was getting over major surgery).

The Nitrous option is interesting, my sister was in labour recently and got real carried away on it. She told the nurse she was getting pins and needles in her arms and legs and the nurse said "that's because you aren't getting any oxygen, just the nitrous". I am not sure about long term effects of that either, I think it is just an oxygen deprivation thing that does it.

No PoWa, not for PCW article.

Interesting that so far almost everyone is a no on the drugs, except a few friends.

**Might**?, if you cant work out that i do drugs then maybe you are a bit slow there stu!

Come-on people, you cannot seriously say you haven't experimented with drugs at some time, remember, the first step is admitting it.

Everything in moderation and things will be fine.

179084 2003-09-30 22:06:00 The other question is, of course, if you do drugs and have an accident, will the legit drugs work?

I'd hate to be someone just now finding it out for herself. Two badly broken legs, badly broken arm, internal damage, head injury - and a high tolerance to, and craving for, drugs.

The thought is enough to put one off drugs for life!

>Everything in moderation and things will be fine.
Sorry Veale, everyone with major problems started with exactly that thought.
