| 179433 | 2003-09-30 22:32:00 | Can someone tell me if it is possible to have two printers connected to one pc. I have an Oki 390 which I print my invoices and statements on and also a hp 948c which i use for printing reports and quotes etc. Each time I want to swap printers I have to change the printer cable over, surely there must be something I can do to make life a little easier? I have a old comp running win 95 so there are no usb, printers go off lpt1 Anyone got any ideas |

| 179435 | 2003-09-30 22:41:00 | I have 3 printers on one PC no problems. However two of them are on the USB port. You could buy a PCI USB card but I dont think 95 supports them. Other option is to buy a port switcher that you can just attach to your PC and then attach the printers to it. When you want to change printers you just change the switch. |

| 179437 | 2003-09-30 22:44:00 | You can get ISA or PCI parallel cards which will add another printer port (or 2 if you buy the 2 port card) This will then add LPT2 (& LPT3 with 2 port cards) so you can have both printers plugged in at the same time. Another option would be to get a switch box which has a dial on the front and you just select which printer you want to print to by turning the dial. DSE have been selling off ISA ones at low prices --- if you live in the right place :D --- but you might be able to find one of the multi-I/O cards which were used a lot on ATs and 386s at a "small shop" or in a junked computer. Just disable all the interfaces except the printer one. HP and other manufacturers don't encourage the use of switches ... harm can come to printers and port chips when they are used. |
