2003-10-01 22:10:00 | Well folks, just got the notification today that OpenOffice.org has just gone to it's 1.1 final release. Unfortunately the CD has been with the replication people for 3 days and has gone to master and it has OpenOffice.org 1.1 RC5 on it (Win and Linux). However, the OpenOffice folks told me at the time that RC5 was likely to be the final release so there may in fact be no or very minimal changes between RC5 and the final release. I'm checking it out. | Biggles (121) | |

2003-10-01 23:50:00 | November CD will contain OpenOffice 1.1, Release Candidate 5. But OpenOffice 1.1 final (i.e., not a "release candidate") was released today, so by the time you get the CD it will have been out for nearly a month. However, due to our production schedule the CD for Nov went of to duplication on Sept 30, so we missed putting the final release of 1.1 on there by a few days. I say this because several folks have expressed the desire to see the final version of OpenOffice 1.1 rather than release candidates on the CD. So I'm saying up front now we missed doing that by a matter of days, sorry. I'm finding out from the OO folks what differences, if any, there are between 1.1 RC5 ans 1.1 final.

2003-10-01 23:53:00 | It's OK Chris, you've been working too hard for a while and your comprehension has a stress fracture. What Bruce is saying is that the PCW CD has OpenOffice V1.1 (release candidate 5) on it, but with impeccable timing, as the PCW CD went to production the OpenOffice folk released their final version (V1.1 RC6??) so the PCW version is notionally out of date already. Doesn't matter much, as Bruce said, so don't throw yourself under a bus or induce other fractures. Cheers Billy 8-{) :D

2003-10-02 00:01:00 | Thanks for letting us know in advance Bruce. It wouldn't surprise me if no code has changed between RC5 and Final apart from a find/replace on the RC5 and the filename. | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-10-02 00:39:00 | Okay, just heard from the OpenOffice people that the RC5 version we have on the CD is the same as the 1.1 final. Maybe a diferent spalsh screen, but the code is the same. | Biggles (121) | |

2003-10-02 04:11:00 | So those who use the version on the CD will not miss out on any bugs which were added in the final steps of the release. :D | Graham L (2) | |
