179652 2003-10-01 15:36:00 Anyone running NOD32 Antivirus (http://www.nod32.co.nz)??

Its supposed to be the best according to tests and hasn't missed any in-the-wild viruses yet. Stats here (www.nod32.co.nz).

I've downloaded the trial version, seems to be going quite nicely so far, and only using 9.5mbs of ram while constantly protecting in the background. I'm interested in what you guys have to say about it, download the trial version and have your say! Remember to disable and stop your other one from loading up at startup before you install though.

179654 2003-10-02 00:29:00 Used to run it a while back when I was getting a new update number each month from a magazine. Then I won NAV from PressF1 :D -=JM=- (16)
179655 2003-10-02 02:12:00 Yah but is it really the best? ;) PoWa (203)
179656 2003-10-02 07:11:00 Well I remember reading a review in PC User which rated it the best, I've also seen Panda rated the best as well. In my case though it never really got a test out seeing as I have a habit of not getting viruses in the first place. -=JM=- (16)
179657 2003-10-02 12:11:00 /* Advanced highspeed patented virus detectatron engine. */
/* Guranteed to never miss a virus. (Although we have an EULA just incase) */

scan_file(File f) {
if (true) {
message("Virus detected.");
}
}

Just being skeptical.

179658 2003-10-02 12:52:00 Im going to agree with JM that it'd be better to run from the fire than sit in the middle of it and hope your suit is up to the task of stopping it.

I've tried it, and read a couple of reviews.

It's scored quite high on all reviews I've seen, but it isn't perfect. Pretty close to it though!

The UI is not as intuitable as it could be, but it does the trick!

179659 2003-10-02 21:41:00 Yeah! Im running it. Its great!

There is a version 2 out, and im having problems though.

With version one, I used to be able to right click on a file, and go to run NOD32, and it would scan it. But with version 2, that right click option seems to have gone.

I think maybe because with version 2, if you open a folder, it will scan the contents of the folder.

It has stopped the only two viruses I have had, something like a Swen.Worm, and also a few trojans while browsing the internet.

Im not quite sure how they work, but NOD32 has AMON, IMON, and NOD32 in it.

AMON is the Resident Module
IMON is the Internet Monitor
NOD32 is the plain run virus scan thing, that was on my right click menu, but now isnt.

One thing I like about it, is that every email that come in through OE, in puts a little line at the bottom.

__________ NOD32 1.523 (20030930) Information __________

This message was checked by NOD32 Antivirus System.

I like just seeing this on the emails, because it shows me its working.

One thing I havnt tried doing yet. I have my hotmail messages coming into OE, but they are not virus checked for some reason. Maybe i will check on there website, they said they were going to do something about it at one stage.

Oh, they have great email support as well.
