| 179583 | 2003-10-01 09:36:00 | My PC has just started telling me that I do not have a soundcard. I know it is wrong because I have had a look and it definately there. I believe the problem may be linked to my recently installing Real Player. I run Windows ME and my default player is Windows Media. Any thoughts???? PP |

| 179585 | 2003-10-01 11:34:00 | Im thinking the same as pompeymike If you've got onboard, then follow what he's said. My next thought would be to check what the error message is in the Device Manager (If there is one). Otherwise, pop the case off your PC and make sure the soundcard hasnt come loose inside! |

| 179586 | 2003-10-02 21:25:00 | Thanks guys, yes it's onboard and I get no sound at all except a crackle when I plug and unplug the speakers. I was getting an error message on both Win Media and Real Audio when trying to play cd's etc but do not get that now. They 'play' on screen but no noise comes out. I suspect maybe it's settings somewhere but not at this stage sure were to look. Regards pp |

If it's not listed then you need to go into your bios setup and enable it. Another clue that your bios settings have reset is if your time and date have suddenly changed. If your sound card is correctly installed you should have a little yellow loudspeaker icon next to the digital clock on the taskbar, double click on it and make sure none of the settings are muted. |
