| 179477 | 2003-10-01 01:25:00 | About a week ago I suddenly started seeing this message after starting my computer - "d4:qttask.exe-nodisk. There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive/device/Harddisk1/DR2" and there are three boxes underneath - Cancel, Try Again and Continue. No matter which box I click on, it takes several clicks for it to disappear, likewise if I click on the X to close it. I tried putting a CD into the disk drive the other day but it made no difference at all. I am running Windows XP Home on an Athlon 1600 PC. Has anyone else come across this before, and if so, can it be eliminated? It is starting to really annoy me! It started happening about the same time as my computer not starting properly and having to choose "last known good configuration". I haven't installed or removed any software or anything recently, so am not sure what is causing it. |

| 179478 | 2003-10-01 01:31:00 | This file is used by Quicktime. It is used by Quicktime in order to check for updates at the Quicktime.com site. In order to remove it from the system tray, perform the following steps: 1. Open Quicktime. 2. Select Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences. 3. The QuickTime settings box will open. Select "Update Check" from the dropdown menu. 4. On the bottom of the screen, you will notice a checkbox for "Check for updates Automatically", uncheck it and close out Quicktime. The QTTask.exe file will no longer start up. |

| 179479 | 2003-10-01 01:37:00 | Thanks for that John. I had (duh!) forgotten I had installed Quicktime! I have had nothing but trouble ever since I did - it says to drag the movie to the icon to get it to run, which it does, but if I try to do it again with another movie, it almost always comes up with "not responding" and I have to shut everything down and start again. Any suggestions? | write-click (2248) | ||
| 179480 | 2003-10-01 02:14:00 | If you don't have the Check for updates automatically that John mentioned it could be that you do not have Quicktime Pro version. This is another method . Start Regedit Go to HKLM,Software,Microsoft,Windows,CurrentVersion,Run Double-click Quick Time Task put semicolon in front of "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime OK Close Regedit |
