180166 2003-10-03 09:59:00 Hi
Could you please tell me which CPU would be better for a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro nforce2 motherboard that I am currently looking at. The Barton 2500+ or a regular 2600+?
Thanks

180167 2003-10-03 21:39:00 Barton would be better, as it has a total of 512kb of L2 cache, which is incredibly important to increasing speeds, as instead of sending data ALL the way from the RAM, there is some storage for instructions, variables, right next to the CPU, which is much faster to access.

Heres some benchmarks here, its apparent that in all benchmarks that the Barton is faster than the 2600 +

But its your decision, and may after all, depend on the wallet factor

Hopes this helps

180168 2003-10-04 09:40:00 Hi jasezone, I have the same mobo & opted for the XP2500+ CPU as most reviews I read & people I spoke to recomended it.
My Bro-in-law & his mate also got the same mobo & CPU & are happy with the decision.

Cheers Steve
