2003-10-03 04:58:00 | Hi All, I hvae an Issue, i brought a Dynalink AHL-181 internal ADSL modem about 3 months ago, which failed to work what so ever. I called telecom, and they did line tests, and said there was nothing worng with the line. I then sent the modem to dynalink, and they snet it back saying there is nothing wrong. So i ordered a new power supply and a new video card. installed those (400w power supply and a GeForce FX5200 card), still not owrking. I then removed the sound card (sound blaster live 5.1). Got the ADSL to work. BUT.... it will connect (say that there is a data transfer) for any where between 1-10mins before droppping the signal, i can connect and download until the data transfer is dropped. the adsl will then come on some times, not everytime. HELLPP!!!! is there anything i can do to get a constant connection (which i had on a loan external modem). i have downloaded the latest drivers for the modem specs AMD Athlon 1800Xp 512meg ram GeForce fx5200 128 meg Internal sound 400watt power supply Windows ME Thanks jasopn

It points to your signal being marginal, when the loan one went OK. How far from the exchange are you? Internal ADSL modems are cheaper but its not always better value. |

2003-10-03 06:25:00 | i live about 1/2 km away from the exchange according to the telecom tech who installed it, so one would presume that i would get a good signal!!! | jastheace (4676) | |
2003-10-03 08:02:00 | Go back to Telecom and get them to check the line.If you are that close you should have no problems, even with an internal. If necessary, get them to come out to your place and prove the fault | Peter Coleman (597) | |
2003-10-16 19:22:00 | Well i hvae gone back to telecom, they have said that the line is fine, i swap the modem for a nokia ni200 internal, and had no problems. i hvae done some further investigation, and have discovered that if live anywhere but beside the excahnge the dynalink will keep dropping the signal. so i have sent it back and got an external modem instead. thanks for you help | jastheace (4676) | |
