| 179909 | 2003-10-02 17:38:00 | Cdr's that are bought shows the speed (x) that it supports.My cd writer is 4x4x6x.What happens if u use a 52x cdr? Does it matter?Does the x of the cdr actually a lie? there's no difference? |

Thats my experience anyway, no doubt there is a more logical answer out there. In my case I had a older x4 writer and a x32 reader, separate devices, I found that if I used faster newer disks in the writer, it would either keep asking for the disk till a slower one was put in or it would write but the data could not be seen on my x32 reader but no problems at all on a x52 reader. I solved the problem by upgrading both the CDWriter and the CDRom and had no problems since. |

| 179911 | 2003-10-02 22:41:00 | My experience to date is that faster disks write just fine on a slower drive. The speed rating is the maximum that can reliably be used and there is no minimum specified or implied. I have 40 x disks, and both 40 x plus 4 x drives. The 4x drive burns 40 x disks perfectly (at 4 x naturally). CDs were cheap Datalot branded, from the Warehouse. $25 for 50. |

On most writers . :D I was interested to see that Harvey Normans had a sign beside some they had a special on, saying they were not for use with a couple of brands of writer . I suppose you have to be prepared to gamble to some degree . . . but $25 isn't a great sum to gamble, and if the cheapos don't work for you, you might find a friend whose drive will take them . A bit of negotiation can lead to win-win situations . :D |

| 179916 | 2003-10-03 08:16:00 | but that didnt apply for my Transonic CDRw discs i bout from warehouse, i had a 8x rite and 4x rewrite drive and my CDRW transonic discs had 10x written on them ,wen i tried them on my comp they didnt work, tried with a frend's comp wchich was 12x and above and worked perfectly, make sure wen u buy the discs that u r clear on its limits and minimum speeds, cos dodgy wording or numbering for that case could lead to buying discs that dont work with ur comp. I know have a new drive and everyting works :D | vk_dre (195) | ||

That would be the CDRWs (CD ReWritable) not working in Aopen and Acer drives. That is with the Harvey Norman branded CDRW. |
