| 180136 | 2003-10-03 07:40:00 | when i switch on the computer ,the monitor turns on, but the screen is blank , if you pull the monitor cable out of the video card the screen lights up,does this mean the video card is stuffed. With a different Monitor the screen lights up, but nothing on it ,the rest of the computer seems to be working ok. | awoof (1092) | ||

| 180138 | 2003-10-03 08:24:00 | i had that problem, but my mistake was that i had plugged the video cable onto the motherboard;s video slot, while i had installed a video card which was the primary so that had to have the cable plugged in for the monitor to work, depending on wot the primary source of video is then i think thats ur fix. But this is my hypothisis after that incident, but it worked for me so why not try switching the cable to the motherboard "Video Out" cable for the monitor, shoud work. | vk_dre (195) | ||

Do you get any beeps from the pc on bootup if so how many. Lastly, It is never a good idea to hot plug a device (unplug or plugin) when a pc is powered up, a sure way to short out a circuit (board) be it a video card or mother board unless the device is designed to do this. I have seen many a mother board fried doing this. |
