| 179802 | 2003-10-02 06:47:00 | ok more for knowledge than anything id like to know why, when i did a repair on the pc puter when i went hunting through the system and progs that it had lost certain items of information and music i thought would be safe? and as its all going to be deleted now anyway its not a prob. but it did miss parts of the works prog of information / homework on it ? and why did i lose some of my music ii thought would have been saved and ok ? and would it also upset the memory of the cd burner when it was telling me i dont have enough space on a blank new cd? as it never changed its speel even when i changed the size or amount of things to be copied. it said it heaps while trying to save it and ended up it still not wanting to copy one small item (when it should have been on the cd at least 10 times with no size probs??? these feel like silly questions with no answer now that i have it on screen in front of me. beetle |

| 179803 | 2003-10-02 08:04:00 | Normally, doing a Repair of Windows will not lose data but sometimes things can go wrong and it happens. That is why a backup should be performed prior to doing a repair or reinstall. Your data would not have been stored in the computer's "memory", it would have been on the hard drive. Memory is the computer's RAM which is emptied and lost as soon as the computer is turned off. Data saved to the hard drive remains on the computer until deleted. For your CD writer it sounds like the writer's copying program may have been corrupt but it also could be a damaged CD writer. Without seeing it it is difficult to know. |
