180440 2003-10-04 20:31:00 Hi,
For quite a while I have been trouble free and even better-thought that by using "Spybasher" that I had eliminated Gator from constantly demanding installation.
Now, and after perhaps three months it has started again- I have tried all methods of blockading it - even installed it and deleted it, then re run spybot and Ad Aware, found the as usual identification of this program, eliiminated it and tried, from there, to block it - no chance!!!
Has anybody got a better method ??

Is this just the "Always trust Gator" installation window you are talking about? If so, its appearance actually indicates you have NOT got Gator installed. If you did have, you would not see the window, it would just update itself sight unseen. We all get those windows popping up, if we visit sites where Gator lives. Making sure you do not click "accept" is all thats needed

Eeek!
Thats like contracting a nasty infection on purpose to prove your Antibiotics work to cure it!

Of block it or removing it????

If you mean block it, when every it pop up asking me to install it I just say, “cancel” that does the trick :D

Also if you do not get the pop up asking you to install it then you might want to have a look at your IE settings(Note: I am using IE 5.5 SP2 so I am not too sure where that setting is:( )

180445 2003-10-04 22:41:00 simply turn off activeX in internet optoins. that way it won't waste your bandwidth downloading all the time. otherwise just don't go to the @#$%^% site that is trying to load it on your pc. tweak'e (174)

180447 2003-10-05 01:42:00 Try using Webwasher - I think it blocks it.

Or else download the Google Toolbar and use the popup stopper contained therein. This is excellent - I used it at work until the toolbar stopped IE6 working because of the companies settings....

180448 2003-10-05 06:15:00 Hi-
No
Webwasher only does what I am already doing - just clicking"no"---- actually I sure have had the mickey taken this time- good to hear from you Godfather- it really is just an annoyance- I had actually tried in exasperation to see if by downloading there was a " don't send this again" button- and again no such luck!
Thanks everyone- a laugh is always good- and I see I am not the only one to experience this luverly (?) but infuriating program- I wish I could create a virus and return it to their site
Thanks anyway

180449 2003-10-05 06:27:00 Hi Jim B
apologies- I did not acknowledge your effort- I ran that as you suggested and the only place I could see was fz and nothing near your fsg_
any further advice- I see your point some time ago I actually accidently downloaded this program along with another - I deleted it - but it could be the partial install- if that is what happened may be the cause- but not as what I looked for as above
