180418 2003-10-04 10:02:00 I would like to buy Excel 97 or even Office 97.
I have Excel ver4 but its hopeless, people have to save their files as ver4 to send to me.
For all those PC goody goody two shoes, I am not after a rabbit version but original CD.
I have MS Works 2000 (OEM) installed, will there be a conflict with office 97?.
I was thinking about MS Word mainly, would the computer blow up if Word 97 was installed over Word 2000?
I live in Dorkland but can drive a 100 miles or so North or South to pickup in my trusty E93A.

Thanks

180419 2003-10-04 10:51:00 You may get a problem with Word, but it would be fixable.

If you uninstalled Word 2000 before loading Office 97, then re-installed Word 2000 should be fine.

Office 97 has some "advantages" in that its a good package with most of the goods you need, and it doesn't need to be Activated. Activation is always a risk with second hand copies of Office 2000 or later. You never know if you will be allowed to install it.

I know that Office 97 lives OK with Office 95 as a dual install. Also Office 97 and 2000. Its just the order they are loaded. Oldest first.

If you can track down a copy of Excel 97 only, it would also be fine.

180421 2003-10-04 11:23:00 I have seen copies on trademe, and they go for reasonably high $.

I am sure its because of the activation issue, and for those that want to load it on several PCs (which of course as we all know is against the licence agreement ... )
