Lol, stu, no need to get worked up, it was only a joke that Powa made, and i'll try and put it nicely, it was a......... JOKE :D, we all know how to ask people if they dont post the sufficient info for us to help them resolve their problem.

Hmmmm, so u know a lot bout comps then? :D, how much? more than GodFather?:D, as others have said here, no one knows a lot bout comps, but instead they learn thru experience on how to handle certain problems and situations (i dont think we know a lot by just posting on this forum), we cannot praise ourselves, others must praise our efforts and make us feel that we know a lot. :)

180509 2003-10-05 04:33:00 What if the submit page was redesigned so the suggestions and tips came up on the top part of the page, and you had to scroll down to actually type in your question? Rod ger (316)
180510 2003-10-05 06:35:00 Suggest if you hit "POST NEW TOPIC" instead of getting a blank sheet there is a list of the essential basics, system used, hard drive size, make and model of any hardware relevant to query, name and version of any software relevant to query. Humour acceptable, flaming not acceptable.
Whilst the list does'nt have to be completed it acts as a reminder.

180511 2003-10-05 07:11:00 ARGHH Stu, I wasn't getting at you personally for spelling etc, I can understand your posts perfectly, and even if there is spelling mistakes in them, they are just typos (and evryone makes them) ;) I'm getting at posts that sound like this:

Helo I hav a problem wif my computer and teh screen gose black. Can you help me?

Try to get them not to abbreviate the message (ie text message type style) because it gets hard to understand. Sometimes I know the answer to the question, but I don't post it because I can't be bothered reading through the message to try and figure out what they are really wanting. If they can't take the time to write out something that we can understand, then I aint going to take the time in replying. IMHO if you can't read/write good english, what are you doing using a computer in the first place.

Thx for llstnng.

180512 2003-10-05 20:14:00 Usually common sense prevails. And for those that aren't aware of common sense, they are unlikely to take any notice of a long sets of T's & C's.

In theory, a number of PCW and IDG people answer questions in various guises, not always with admin thingies on them. Bruce is the man in charge of making the system work, changes, fixes, etc. I am the chief person who tries to ask for more info or get questions answered if they aren't already answered. I have to say it is pretty busy these days and it is impossible to see every thread. The FAQs help a lot, too, plus searching for previous posts (I use it myself, a lot, for things I don't do very often).

We'll see what the other gnomes say, but I am not sure we would do it, as getting existing users to agree to it would be a battle and I don't really see the need.

180513 2003-10-05 21:34:00 We have avoided the whole Terms of Service rules-based approach in favour of a simple rule of keeping it friendly. Of course if it gets out of hand we may revisit that and take a more draconian approach to things: such as banning all OT posts, for example. I don't wnat to go there, so put your happy faces on smile ..... Biggles (121)

180515 2003-10-05 23:42:00 Bruce - you could go the way of the Rideline website. They have a quick set of rules on the login page, which you should read and agree to before you enter the details in the login boxes

I am reminded of those that complain about a tv programme and wont turn it off.
I think the admin here can be relyed on to look after things.
