2003-10-05 21:41:00 Win XP:Nvidia GEForce4 MX440 with AGP8X video card.

I can't get colour quality settings to permanently stay above 8 bit. When I reboot it returns. I also have trouble when clicking on html links like 'post' in Newsgroups/'to' in Yahoo web mail. I get a burst of sound then nothing. I have tried various things from PC Help. I also have 2 monitors in Device manager but only use one. I think first 2 and maybe 3rd are related problems. Any ideas? Pete UK

2003-10-05 21:51:00 Have you checked that the correct display driver is installed for the card? it sounds like it is using the standard SVGA Windows driver. Under Display properties click Settings - Advanced - Adapter. It will tell yuo there what driver is being used. Biggles (121)
2003-10-06 05:27:00 I have solved it, well, 99% from a suggestion i read on this forum's past articles, which was: set in safe mode. It worked! but find I have now a roughly 2" square, almost, blanked-out section on my desktop when i reboot. Any advice? Pete ps: I did have latest drivers. dinerouk (4690)
2003-10-06 05:40:00 I have still problems with connecting links on webmail and newsgroups: just a burst of sound and nothing happens. Don't know if it was related to previous 'settings' problem? Any advice Pete dinerouk (4690)
