| 180599 | 2003-10-05 06:21:00 | ?:| Hi, i'm thinking about buying a 40gig hard disk (7200rpm) as a second drive and need to know if it will give me full or near full capasity.My computer is a "hp vectra VE" running at 400 mega herts and is 4-6 years old (but very stable).I think the bios limits a drive to 7.9 gig. do i need to do a bios upgrade or a partition. |

| 180601 | 2003-10-05 07:18:00 | Either partitioning or a flash of the bios will do it. Partitioning could become annoying in the sense that you'd have 5 more drives of 8GB in size in comparison to one big 40GB drive. Flashing the bios can be risky but is relatively straight forward. CyberChuck |
