Hi, i'm thinking about buying a 40gig hard disk (7200rpm) as a second drive and need to know if it will give me full or near full capasity. My computer is a "hp vectra VE" running at 400 mega herts and is 4-6 years old (but very stable).I think the bios limits a drive to 7.9 gig.

do i need to do a bios upgrade or a partition.

Partitioning could become annoying in the sense that you'd have 5 more drives of 8GB in size in comparison to one big 40GB drive.
Flashing the bios can be risky but is relatively straight forward.
