| 181129 | 2003-10-07 09:03:00 | I have been to a Microsoft product briefing today on the new office 2003 and Small Business server 2003. Office is nice, they didn't go too much in to the new features of word and XL but instead spent time looking at the new look and feel of outlook and how it might be use in the corporate world. the new focus of MS is to sell on the ways MS can improve your Business and less on the features. outlook now come with a spam filter and such like as far as I know it will hit the shelves in a few weeks time. system specs are up a bit on office XP, Office 2003 will only run on windows 2K or better (sorry to all on windows ME and 9X) it is interesting to note that they did play down the threat of Open office and did a little speech about how OO wont render all MS documents right 100% of the time, and they say that on average tasks can be done in either/both but are up to 3 times quicker on MS office. over all the presentation was lots of buzz word and bright lights :-) The big stuff they where pushing (outlook) will have very little affect on the home users. more info at MS web site: www.microsoft.com As for SBS server, it is the same story of better and faster, more stable......... SBS 2003 is due late this year / early next year. BTW I have a RC version of SBS 2003 free to a good home :-) the Copy of Office 2003 I will keep and install in the next few days. |
