181639 2003-10-09 06:11:00 I just opened up windows media player and tried to play an mp3. It failed and said:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required audio codec is not installed on your computer."
I was only playing mp3s earlier today!! I checked for viruses and the such....no traces...
Winamp plays fine...but CoolEdit Pro has a dll missing when i try to start it up "This application has failed to start because MSVCR70.dll was not fround."
Acid Pro 4.0 also comes up with this same error message

Anyway I can fix it?

181640 2003-10-09 06:18:00 You could try downloading the K-Lite Codec pack (http://www.klitesite.com), but I would fear that upon uninstallation of that, it would remove all the codecs it replaced (my own personal experience lends its hand there ;)).

Have you added or removed, or updated any software recently (like the past two days)?

i downloaded the kazaa codec and installed but cooledit and acid still refused to run.
I just ran system restore to a point of 3 hours prior to me finding mp3s didnt work and its working fine since.
