181608 2003-10-09 05:23:00 Does anyone know of shareware that translates from English to Spanish and English to Japanese? I am writing a book and want to do the initial translating with such a program and then hand it over to persons who speak the above languages to "polish". TE4CHR (3498)
181609 2003-10-09 05:41:00 If you have the time then you can use Babelfish (babelfish.altavista.com) or Google's Translator (http:). Just be aware that they are generally useful only for translating one word by itself and not a whole sentence as generally the will ignore endings of words (for example French which dependant on a few things depends on how you write the ending of the word...) and so forth...
Someone can probably give a better definition probably and know what they're talking about, but yeah, that's the general jist of it.

In effect, asking someone to perfect what something like Babelfish would do would be harder for them because words may not translate properly or be in the incorrect order for that language.

181611 2003-10-09 06:00:00 You will get quite poor results with any automated translation English - Japanese.

The language structure is so different that the meanings will mostly be lost, unless you are exceptionally lucky. "Polishing" will be rewriting.
