| 1348485 | 2013-07-10 00:31:00 | I have an HP/Compaq Pentium 4 desktop with Intel integrated graphics and 1 x VGA out connected to a Philips 19" LCD screen. I want to connect another 19" monitor so I can work over two screens, for instance placing a word doc on one screen and my email inbox on another. Should it be easy enough to buy a VGA adapter that can split-off my desktop to two screens? Will I need additional software? |

| 1348486 | 2013-07-10 00:37:00 | If there is only one VGA output then splitting with a VGA splitter will only allow the same thing to be displayed on both screens (Clone). If you want independent screens then you would need to add another graphics card or get a USB VGA adapter. Something like this: www.dynamix.co.nz Cost is probably around $100. |

| 1348491 | 2013-07-10 08:14:00 | Being a Pentium 4 age, if you get a graphic card with two outputs, check first what the slot on the motherboard is, either AGP or PCI-E. In fact check its even got a Graphic Slot - some didn't have them. | wainuitech (129) | ||

PCI cards can be had (you'd likely need to find one second hand) but are slower than AGP\PCI-E, especially at the resolution you'd need for two 19" monitors. Then again, if you're coping on an Intel IGP perhaps you wouldn't notice... |
