1348417 2013-07-09 02:59:00 I had been under the impression that Yahoo! didn't support IMAP - apparently they do: help.telecom.co.nz

Does anyone use it? Is it reliable? It seems Telecom don't recommend it for some reason.

"NOTE: These settings are only meant to be used on a mobile device and are not supported on a desktop email client. If you decide to use IMAP on a desktop email client, we will be unable to provide support. Some email clients do not allow the ability to disable ActiveSync, which can cause emails to be deleted. If emails are deleted from the desktop email client while using IMAP, they cannot be recovered."

Perhaps they are just trying to cover their a88 , in case email gets deleted , thats why they dont recommend it on desktop?

You're probably right. I just want to use it between a desktop client (or two) and Webmail, which I expect would be fairly safe.

1348420 2013-07-09 04:49:00 I've been using it for a long time with Outlook 2010 on a desktop, never had any real issues. Can be a bit slow to sync at times, but typically that's only when I've been using webmail for a while and there's a lot of content for it to sync. inphinity (7274)

Reliable? Yahoo is notorious for it's unreliability.

Why anyone bothers is beyond me, get yourself a Gmail account. No issues with them or IMAP.

1348422 2013-07-09 23:07:00 Outlook is known to be slow with IMAP compared to say Thunderbird. Just accessing the inbox or sent folder and then waiting to right click the menu. Which is why I am sticking to POP for the mean time, until I am really forced to go IMAP, I heard that Outlook 2013 encourages that a lot and who knows with future versions. But these days my friends use more IM than email these days ... Nomad (952)
