1347914 2013-07-03 09:48:00 My 4.5yr old PC is starting to fall apart. Now a WD Black HDD has bad sectors so it cannot produce a Windows Image file. RMA possible? Do I use the disk error checking program to enable myself to get a disk image out of it. If not my image will be 3 months out of date.

Edit - bad clusters. If that makes a diff ...

1347915 2013-07-03 09:57:00 The Black drives have a 5 year warranty so you can get it replaced, just take it back to where you bought it from.

The free WD Acronis may still be able to get an image of it depending on how bad the HDD is.

1347916 2013-07-03 10:18:00 Active@disk Image can sometimes make an image of drive with bad sectors as well. use the bootable CD from the trial version.

1347917 2013-07-03 12:06:00 Thanks, I sent over an RMA request. Will try one of those solutions :) Just the OS volume, no files on it. Nomad (952)
