2013-01-23 05:38:00 | I'm still using MSE. I don't feel the need to have to pay for something when there's a perfectly good free alternative. | goodiesguy (15316) | |

MSSE and Nod32 are the only ones I'd install on my machines, and indeed they're the only ones that are. On my laptop and the desktop which have the important files, nod32. On a gifted semi-permanently laptop with vista, MSSE. On the old desktop, MSSE. |

2013-01-24 07:11:00 | I'm running MSSE and ran a Superantispyware scan yesterday , came up with 11 trojans. Iwould have expected MSSE to have seen something? | PPp (9511) | |
2013-01-24 09:08:00 | So MSE is no good now? What else is there that is free and would do a better job? | QW. (15883) | |
2013-01-24 09:57:00 | I'm still using MSE. I don't feel the need to have to pay for something when there's a perfectly good free alternative. What is the Free one that's good as some of the paid ones ? MSE while its okish as a free one, its far from as good as Nod32 for example. No AV is perfect, even Nod can fail, BUT when you see infections getting past MSE and disabling it, then install something like Nod, and it instantly detects active infections then its not good. (got a funny story Re Nod32 and what one of my customers did) If I were to compare / rate MSE with a Paid AV, I would say MSE and Norton in the zone. That's why earlier on I mentioned I don't even offer the free AV's now - I install Nod32 as a trial and then advise, its upto the owner what they wish to do. The only reason I'm posting again, is today I went back to a customers place, they had a Trial of Nod32 I had put in, didn't want to pay for it so they uninstalled it, put in MSE. Within two weeks they had infections. I uninstalled MSE and put back Nod32, picked up the infections almost instantly, which were from some malware their son had downloaded, they then brought it. You could create a virus that formats the hard drive. That makes it worse. Easy enough to do, but that's pointless. If a virus / Malware did that it would kill its self, and couldn't replicate or do other sorts of damage like money gathering from unsuspecting users.
