im a little confused. can someone tellme what is the difference between 5.1 surround speakers and 5.1 "digital" (i think this meand with a decoder y/n?) surround speakers. do you need a surround sound card to run 5.1 digital speakers? help. i am confused! ? :|

182366 2003-10-11 12:12:00 Most sound cards are Analogue not digital. The soundblaster live and Audigy series supports both Digital and Analogue. To use Digital you will need to buy Digial speaker (which are considerbly more expensive) Digital gives a smoother clearer sound (at least thats what they say) but most can't really tell the difference. Unlike Analogue Digital speaker only have one cable plugging into the soundcard while analogue can have up to 3 seperate cables plugging into it. Odin (227)
