| 182180 | 2003-10-11 05:38:00 | hi, i bought a pc company pc about 4 years ago and i think its ready for a new windows re-install . I have a recovery cd they gave along with a piece of paper which told me which keys to press while the computer was starting up with the disk in the drive . Unfortunatley i have lost that paper and i dont remeber which key to press . Can anyone with a pc company pc tell me what to do? p . s after the install, do i have to re-install all the drivers again? |

It should then offer you the option to "Boot from CD" This CD will turn your computer back to manufacturer settings, all drivers _should_ but may nor necessarily be installed with it, along with all software that came with the PC. Usually these discs delete all your user files as well like documents, e-mail etc. The disc should also have instructions on/near it |

If not, tell us what operating system you use and we can tell you were to find it in the registry. If you have the same hardware as when you first got the PC, then there will be no problems as the CD contains all the drivers required. In the BIOS, there is "boot order" which you have to check/change to CDROM first. Then reboot with restore CD in CDROM and it will come up with a menu. It is just a case of following your nose after that. Make sure you have saved all you want , like documents, emails and dial-up number/password, as all will be wiped on a restore. |
