| 182185 | 2003-10-11 03:14:00 | Heh... and even if we did we don't have any aircraft to land on them. Of course further to that, Aircraft Carriers are more likely to be Naval/AirForce related than Army. |

| 182186 | 2003-10-11 03:23:00 | If NZ were to be invaded we would get seriously owned. We'd have the military running round with styres trying to shoot down Migs. Any invasion airforce could roam around the mainlands unhindered. And on the off chance that an enemy jet was wandering round the ocean they *might* encounter one of our superior frigates that might shoot it down with a SAM, oh but we don't have any of them either. | PoWa (203) | ||

We sold the skyhawks as they were outdated and dangerous in comparison to modern systems and didn't take the deal from the U.S as at the end of the day what enemies do we really have? In comparison the US have Iraq, England have, well.. I don't know, but they must have a country which rubs them the wrong way. Also our isolation serves as security. We're isolated enough to make anyone willing to bomb us think twice as it'd be stupid- a waste of time and the breath of it. The Airforce complained because at the end of the day they could've got new toys out've it - if someone offered to buy you a state of the art system and then withdraw for some reasons you'd be complaining as well. At the end of the day if some nutcake wants to bomb NZ then I'm sure we can get a fighter plane or 2 to sort it out, and if not then we've got Aussie to ask for help, and despite what differences we may hold about eachother I don't think they'd be a country to turn down the offer to help us. | 182190 | 2003-10-11 06:39:00 | As a famous person once said:- "We shall defend our Island(s), whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender". Poppa John. p.s. Literal translation. "We will throw stones at them, and kick sand in their faces, in the fields we will bombard them with sheep turds, and cow pats, in the mountains we will throw snowballs. We have plenty of ammunition....we will never surrender." P.J :D :D :D :D |

They have guns, albeit .303s/.308s and skills to wear down and defeat any foreign force. History has shown that these people (Anglo Saxons) have lost battles but ALWAYS win in the end. tedheath |
