182054 2003-10-10 22:00:00 If it is a simple problem then most computer shops may be able to help. If it is more serious then they may do the hard sell and tell you it's better to chuck it and buy a new one.

I highly recommend Visual Tech (http://www.vistech.co.nz) for any repairs your laptop may need.

182055 2003-10-11 00:55:00 There are specialist laptop shops in a lot of places. They would have more experience with laptops. They are not easy to work on.

Even thougn it's out of guarantee, Dell might be the best if any parts are needed ... they are more likely to have easy access to the parts.

Interestingly enough all the dealings I have had with the aforementioned company have been extremely poor.

Both in and out of warranty machines have come back without being fixed, or tested, or in worse condition than when they left.

Personally I'd stay a long way away from them... my $0.02

182057 2003-10-11 04:00:00 Thanks Tweak. The audio output connector has been damaged. I use it a lot and apart from this the computer is fine kerryg (4512)

182059 2003-10-11 09:20:00 If it's just the jack that's damaged then you could probably change it yourself, if you've got a screwdriver, soldering iron and a spare $3... Trev O (452)
182060 2003-10-11 17:48:00 I did begin down this track but could not find my way into the case. I sucessfully removed the keyboard and all of the case screws but could not get it apart enough to get to this part of the board. I thought it wise to stop at this point rather than risk damage. This is why I am seeking profesional help kerryg (4512)
