181843 2003-10-10 02:47:00 Hello all, I have just been given a computer. I am not a computer buff.
I need to know the speed of my processor(for games etc).
I pulled the fan off the chip and it says:
Pentium 3
1000/256/133/1.7v
What is the speed?
Please help
Thanks

181850 2003-10-10 03:20:00 Dependant on your OS, and what version of Direct X you have, try:
Clicking Start
-Run
type in:
dxdiag

It may tell you a little bit of info if you dont want to try downlaoding specialized apps :-)

181851 2003-10-10 03:26:00 the trouble with useing DirectX or most built in MS apps is they don't report the speed etc very accuratly. ie one i have at the mo is reported as a 500mhz yet its a 533mhz :( tweak'e (174)
181852 2003-10-10 03:28:00 opps i forgot.....provided the bios dosn't use a splash screen you can see the cpu speed on boot up before the OS starts to load. tweak'e (174)
