181872 2003-10-10 01:34:00 when I disconnect from the net sometimes (but not always) the telly's by the clock just stay there for about a minute. That wouldn't worry me too much but I'm unable to do anything else until they go... and sometimes it causes windows to restart.
I have updated the driver and am on an internal conexant laptop modem
anyone know of anyway of configuring it to just stop when I click disconnect?

thanks Trev

181873 2003-10-10 02:56:00 as far as i know its a modem driver thing. some modems are worse than others for it. only real way i know to fix this is to buy a hardware modem. tweak'e (174)
181874 2003-10-10 03:07:00 thanks, but no thanks it goes OK for everything else, is there anyway of forcing it to time out early? or should I try a few different drivers?? Trev O (452)
181875 2003-10-10 03:16:00 It's not a "softmodem" thing as it happens with my External 56K as well. I think it is a "XP" thing (probably updates, as mine didn't do it originally)more like it. Pheonix (280)
181876 2003-10-10 03:19:00 pheonix- thats odd. you should not have a pause if you have an external hardware modem. what sort of external do you have ? tweak'e (174)
181877 2003-10-10 03:32:00 Speedcom 56k V90 serial port driven. Have checked serial ports at top speed OK.I manually make my connections with shortcut on desktop and right click-disconnect when I have finished. About half the time, it just sits 10 - 30 secs before closing down. Have watched the modem indicators and they show only the info from PC to close connection.
At the moment I am just living with it as am going jetstart next week (hopefully if Telecom gets A into G)

181878 2003-10-10 21:32:00 I have Jetstart & have the same problem with XP.
I use a D-Link DSL-200 USB modem.
On occasion when Jetstart is crook or slow (which is often), I need to revert to my 56k dial up account to finish the job.

Xp will not let me do this, says that the Port is already in use by another device. It even does this with the cables removed from the modem. XP has to be reset.

I also have ME & have no problems with it, I can switch from one to the other just by logging on and off.

181879 2003-10-11 04:17:00 I'm glad to know it's not just My comp with the problem, but as yours, phoenix, mine never use to do it, perhaps I'll try a google search and see if some other forum has a fix... Trev O (452)

You shouldn't be having problems like that on Jetstart.

What ISP and location?

I'd take it up with Telecom, you're paying for a premium service, demand it!
