181778 2003-10-10 00:13:00 What are the exact hardware specifications for the Pavilion 714a? In particular I wish to know the brand of sound card used so I can look for its driver on the web. Yibo (4706)
181779 2003-10-10 00:27:00 It does not actually have "a sound card" as such.
It uses the on-board chipset, integrated audio and video.

They dont say what the chipset is, but its often identifiable via Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager

181780 2003-10-10 00:36:00 My sources tell me that your have an onboard sound with chipset intel i845 sound. robsonde (120)
181781 2003-10-10 01:21:00 I guess I need to clarify my situation here. I made a clean install of my pc with win xp pro disc, and now I'm searching for the necessary drivers (sound, video, etc.) to re-install. I checked HP's site for driver downloads, but they don't have anything that was essential.

At the moment, I have a flickering monitor and there's no sound coming from the speakers. Please help!

181782 2003-10-10 01:37:00 ok so you need a driver pack

go to www.intel.com and do a searchy for "845 driver pack"

this should be right for you.
