| 182194 | 2003-10-11 07:24:00 | BTW the A4 Skyhawk is not a fighter. The A stands for attack (ground attack). Sure you can put an Sidewinder missile on the A4, but you could put one on a Microlight. That Microlight could conceivably shoot down another plane. Our Skyhawks were modified with F16 attack computers and could still do what they were designed for, attacking surface targets. I worked as Engine Mechanic on Skyhawks from 1974 to 76 when they nearly new. tedheath |

It's fairly pointless for NZ to try to maintain any high tech defence force. We do not have the money or the threats to fear. Even if we were surrounded unless there was a big brother (as the USA is for Israel- thank goodness) to help out we'd just have to rely on special forces type soldiers. Effective but limited. |

Ah Doubting Thomas, you are too clever for me by far. As a matter of curiosity what did the good people of Grenada contribute to the American invasion? Or Panama?
