I'm not sure I like the sound of that! Especially if you say you do not know much about computers. Uless you go through the right process reattaching the fan you will more than likely cook your processor!!

My thoughts exactly. I'm wondering does a P3 1000 even have a heatsink? Yesterday I just went through removing my processor, connecting L1 bridges, applying and removing arctic silver thermal paste and reattaching everything. Quite a big deal.

I for one adjusted the way ive been doing them after reading up,my methods had become a bit slacker then what i would have believed,seems a wipe and a blob of goo can be improved upon.

181857 2003-10-14 00:05:00 I am an electronic technician by trade so I do know what I am doing!
I would not be touching the PC's hardware if I was not confident about electronics. Yes it has a fan, heatsink and thermal compound between ic and heatsink. Not a big deal taken it off and reconnecting. I am not a software whiz though.
