182676 2003-10-12 11:14:00 does anyone know about this problem? I have loaded the correct driver but I still can't get any sound and it's driving me up the wall...
I have checked everything possible to uninstalling, checking speakers, wires and still nothing...

182677 2003-10-12 19:09:00 Perelini, on board sound normally requires that it be enabled, either through BIOS or via a jumper on the M/board. Check the manual. Curly (487)
182678 2003-10-12 20:28:00 Have you checked in the Device Manager that there's no Warning sign's next to your Sound?

It may pay to visit Chaintech's website and get drivers off there if you downloaded them from elsewhere.... I know that the C-Media and/or AC '97 can be a real pain :-(

182679 2003-10-13 08:11:00 Hi perelini

I know you said you have checked everything; wires, speakers, drivers etc, but did this include checking to see whether your sound is muted under sound properties? Sorry if this is stating the obvious and you have already done this, but sometimes it is the little things that catch you out :)

Remember how I said I couldnt get my Card going after I'd installed Slack 9.1... It was coz I'd logged in as root and it knocked the volume down to nothing :-(

Turn it up and it worked... after 5 hours of stuffing round :p

182681 2003-10-13 20:27:00 heh heh heh.

went out to a job last week where they had no sounds whatsoever working on their pc,and it was due to them turning the volume down on winamp, which of course alters the volume of everything within windows.

Almost felt bad giving them the bill.....almost.
