182505 2003-10-12 04:58:00 hi,
i recently downloaded a program "folder guard". i downloaded it from kazaa because it came with the crack, after i installed it whenever windows started it came up with a blue screen that said:

a fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:CO2855D8 in VXD VWIN32(05) + 000012D0. The current application will be terminated.
blah blah
Press any key to continue

it came up three times when windows started but everything worked fine after pressing a key (3times)

I assumed it was folder guard so i uninstalled it and now it sill does it. i figured maybe it didnt uninstall some components and they r still trying to access some files, perhaps in the registry and/or it could have come with some sort of virus because it came off kazaa. but i have checked my autoexec.bat and startup menu and there is nothing funky in there.

This error is extremely annoying

Im running win98se

Any help?

Jim.

182506 2003-10-12 06:33:00 Your first mistake in making this post was to admit that you are/were using priated software which will not be widely supported by the various F1'ers who might otherwise help you.

Go to google and type in VWIN32 and have a read through the possible causes. See if that helps you.

182507 2003-10-13 07:08:00 why do you care? Jimmy D (2061)
182508 2003-10-13 07:29:00 I agree with Gordon. If you want to steal software, you are on your own. tbacon_nz (865)
182509 2003-10-13 09:05:00 Regardless, he has learned from his mistake probably and knows not to use useless apps like kazaa for software as they are usually fakes.

Anyway, try making a new user profile (your one might be corrupt), and see if the error still occurs. You can copy all the settings n stuff over, do a search of this forum for 'copy user data to a new profile' or something similiar.

If that won't fix you may need to try a repair of the OS, from the cd.

182510 2003-10-13 09:32:00 Also try downloading and running Regclean... not regcleaner. It is written by MS for 95/98 and does cure a few trhings Nortons never could. Pheonix (280)
182511 2003-10-13 15:02:00 Does it still do it in safe mode? If it doesn't then do an msconfig from the run box and have a look in the startup section, you may find that something relating to the programme is still trying to load. pompeymike (4601)

I don't care................

But as you can see from some of the other replies, wanting help for cracked software or help resulting from cracked software may not get as many people helping you as you might get otherwise get.
