182701 2003-10-13 00:04:00 Recently I did a piece of work which I saved in Word. When I came to work on it this morning it would not open and the computer demanded a file called Picture Viewer EXE, which could not be found. I know this is a Word file because I only deal with text. Is there a way round this problem? Otherwise I have to spend hours redoing the work Bumfluff (3523)
182702 2003-10-13 00:06:00 Right click the file and click properties and tell us what type of file it is.

My guess is that the type of file has been changed somehow and this is why it is trying to open it using this other program.

properties.

182704 2003-10-13 00:35:00 We have covered this subject a couple of times recently and perhaps it is time for another FAQ. I'll see if I can find the previous posts, but in the meantime, do a search of your hard drive(s) for file type *.wbk. This is a windows backup file (providing you have backups enabled) and you should find a copy of the most recently saved version.

Alternatively, search all *.tmp files in the date range and you will probably find copies there as well.

182705 2003-10-13 00:44:00 OK Bumfluff

Take a look at This Post (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) but if that doesn't help you might get some further ideas from This one instead. (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)

In my experience it is always worth the effort to search.

182710 2003-10-20 01:12:00 Hi Bumfluff

That is good news. It is nice to hear of a success. Would you mind telling us how you found it? If you used some other method than those suggested it could be helpful to others.

Cheers
