182489 2003-10-12 01:48:00 My computer is windows 98 se k6 200 mhz 64 ram.

The program nero 6 and the old nero looses its buffer/decreases after 5 seconds.Changing it to 2x burning will increase the time to 5 minutes then the buffer decreases making a unsucessful burning.
However using adaptec cd creator and nti cd maker works fine.

Could nero need a more demanding processor?Wouldn't all programs be the same?

182490 2003-10-12 02:07:00 with your lack of ram and slow processor minor differnces between the apps can make a big difference.

also nero dosn't always play nicely when you have adaptec cd creator installed.

use what works.

Minimum system requirement for Nero 6 (from nero website):
"300 MHz (minimum), 500 MHz for DVD playback, 800 MHz (for capturing to hard disc), 1.6 GHz (for capturing to DVD video )
64 MB RAM, 128 MB RAM (for video editing)
500 MB free hard disc space, 4.8 GB hard disc space (for DVD images)
Screen resolution of at least 800 x 600 pixels, 16 bit color depth or higher
CD and/or DVD recorder
Windows Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher"

With your pc hardware configuration, I would suggest you to use older version of Nero.

182492 2003-10-12 07:53:00 IMHO, Use Nero 5.5.x.x

I had a Cyrix 233Mhz a while back...

Throwing a little extra RAM would make a world of difference for 4x burning. Set it to use as much of your RAM as possible (IIRC it'll let you use 40%) in the preferences!

Make sure there are NO other apps in the background, and possibly look into WinTasks Lite (Version 4 iirc) as that may help with Win9x to specify your process priority :-)

You can get 4x burning with 200Mhz.. a lil more RAM wouldnt go amiss though (I had 92MB).

Hope this helps

Cheers

182493 2003-10-14 04:39:00 Well you're wrong bout that. I use CD Creator 6 and Nero 6 here, and they work fine together. And as everyone has said get more ram, or get a burner that supports Justlink or Buffer Underrun.

Just dont use INCD, which is what would conflict with DirectCD (part of Nero, or was), and DirectCD at the same time.

182494 2003-10-14 09:13:00 I downloaded and installed the demo version of Nero 6 . I used to use the Wizard in ver 5XXX and find it easy to use but not the one in this new ver 6 (called Smart xxxx ?) .

Anyway, never like it and re- installed my good old Nero Ver 5xxx .

182495 2003-10-14 10:03:00 I dont particularly like SmartStart either.. hate Roxio's one too for that matter.

If you do get a new CD-R/W with Justlink or some form of buffer under-run protection (Which might not be a bad idea, qmb.co.nz has Cyq'ove ones for around $60 + GST IIRC) make sure it can burn at 4x, as some are coming out that can only do 8x or 12x now!

What restrictions does the Demo of Nero 6 have?

I've got the Ultra Edition, and am just curious if I have everything or am missing out?

Sorry, didn't check the restrictions and have un-installed Nero 6.
