I download my digital photos and use Photoshop Elements to save the images. I save them in 300dpi so they are suitable for publication, and the file size is normally around 300-600KB. I saved some photos yesterday but when I went to send them by email, they took so long I finally gave up. I went in to check that I'd saved them as JPEG files and not TIFF or something, and found the shots I saved yesterday are all over a MB, some are as big as 3.5MB! They are all 300dpi as the other shots, all are roughly the same size, all were taken in FINE format (as opposed to RAW or TIFF, etc.), all were saved as JPEGs, so can anyone give me some advice on what has happened here? I just took a shot a few minutes ago and saved it in exactly the same way, but it was only 302KB, so I'm stumped! The number of pixels in some of the MB shots is exactly the same as the KB ones, so HELP!!! |

Reminder to self: do not post topics at this hour of the night because your brain does not function well and you end up solving the problem yourself and looking a right wally! I couldn't leave it without working out what was wrong, so I tried the old 'save as' trick on the MB photos to see if that would help and discovered something odd - the 'image options' part had been set at 'maximum' rather than 'medium', so the file sizes were on the large size! I couldn't find anything in the Photoshop Elements book about this (under image size it had page 110, but that page was all about moving, copying, and pasting selections and layers - no use at all!), so heavens knows how it was altered, but all is okay now!
Do I still go in the prize draw seeing as I helped myself?!! |

Sounds like you have little green men in your computer. They seem to alter things just for the fun of watching you tear your hair out. Little Bug'rs they are. |

Yep, I reckon they're the same ones who pile dust under the bed, hide socks in the washing machine and eat the last piece of chocolate! If we don't keep an eye on them, they'll go on to swallow eftpos cards and hide the car keys! |
