| 183215 | 2003-10-14 13:55:00 | I have a AMDxp1800+, 512mgsRAM, running Win2000pro. Internet Explorer 6 and OutlookExpress 6. When I'm in Outlook express and I try to reply to an email by either hitting the "Reply" button or the "New Message" button I get a box that tells me "error opening this message not enough memory". I have plenty of ram and have even tried shutting all other open applications but it doesn't help. I thought it might be harddrive space but I have plenty of free space on all my partitions including the one I'm using (C). This problem happens often but not always. Some mail I can reply to but at other times I can't reply to anything or write a new message to anyone. Anybody any ideas? Help please :-0 |

Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders. 2. In the Named box, type inbox.dbx. 3. In the Look In box, click your primary hard disk (usually drive C), and then click Find Now. 4. Right-click the inbox.dbx file, and then click Rename. 5. Type folders.old, and then click OK. 6. Start Outlook Express. This creates a new inbox.dbx file automatically. |

| 183217 | 2003-10-25 12:52:00 | Thanks 4 help JimB I did as you suggested and it fixed prob temporarily. Now I have the same prob again and it's only been a few weeks. I don't have very much in my inbox but do have lots of other folders. Could this be the reason for my prob? Is there a way to permanently fix the prob by changing something or the way I do things? Any help greatly appreciated Adman |

| 183219 | 2003-10-25 19:34:00 | Hey Adman, I've got the same problem as you. Running Win98 on a 1GHz Celeron, with 128MB RAM (32 shared with video). I posted a thread on it when I first got the problem, and it seemed there was no solution. Obviously recreating the Inbox folder doesn't solve it, and from my attempts to get rid of the problem, it doesn't not appear to be related to the number of applications or services running (I already had that tweaked when I started getting the problem, and I can't reduce it further). I haven't noticed the problem occur for a week, but the only work around I could find was to check my emails as soon as the computer booted - and even that ended up getting the problem sometimes. |

I have tons of emails in lots of folders (far too many actually :p) and have never had any problems, apart from losing one folder, but that was due to fiddling. :D You can back up your email folders by searching for the .dbx files and moving them elsewhere on the hard drive then putting them back again once OE has been reinstalled. It would pay to back them up to a CD as well if you are able to, just in case. |
