2003-10-13 05:52:00 | i got a external modem from a friend it's model number is GCV SF-1156V+/R19 the driver uses win2k's standard v90 modem when it connects it shows that it's connected at 115.2kbps instead of the 52 the modem is external and connected to com1 and also the download speed is slower than my other internal pci winmodem it downloads at around 3 and 4.5k/s and it is a 56k modem... what's wrong?? do i need to put in some strings or put in extra configs??

2003-10-13 06:01:00 | The reported 115 kbs is the speed that your PC connects to the modem. The reason its being reported instead of the modem connect speed indicates that the driver being used is not correct. Also I think it will be a GVC, not a GCV?

2003-10-13 06:02:00 | It is showing up at 115.2kbps because the drivers are not correct. The 115.2kbps is the speed of the connection between the modem and the PC. | -=JM=- (16) | |

2003-10-13 06:46:00 | Is the same true if it reads 115200kbs, cos mine changed when I changed to Paradise as a isp, and nothing else was changed. | supergran (108) | |

2003-10-13 09:20:00 | i still can't find a proper driver for it how can a 56k modem work slow compared to another one that's on the same line?

2003-10-13 21:20:00 | I actualy have the same problem as u.My external modem shows 115200bps.I downloaded the driver for my modem. To my surprise. After 10 minutes the modme just won't send any data packets across and won't even received.I had to use window 98se's default modem setting. My friend's computer doesn't work with that driver. It needs my real modem driver. Interesting. !!
