182825 2003-10-16 00:16:00 heni, have a look at Modem Help (www.modem-help.co.uk) for drivers and firmware to flash your modem (upgrade the ROM to V90/92 and poss 33.6->56k). Read the faq's on flashing because its not without risk. Being an external serial modem (& not USB) it will be flashable if the manufacturer or chip maker has made an upgrade available.

182829 2003-10-17 00:26:00 Hello Heni,
you could try putting W0 (that is W zero, not alphabetic O) in the extra setting field of advanced properties for the modem, if your modem will accept standard Hayes AT commands this should persuade it to report DCE speed instead of DTE speed which it is now reporting. It has worked on several modems I have tried it on.
Let us know if this makes any difference.

182830 2003-10-17 00:33:00 Sorry that should be W2 for DCE speed W0 will give DTE speed if your modem is already reporting DCE speed.
Confusion arose because mine reports 49.2kbps normally but I can make it report 115.2 by adding W0 as extra setting so the reverse should apply.
