As Chill said, for XP and ME users because WMP9 is so tightly integrated into the OS, you have to use System restore to get rid of it. WMP9 is acually an OS upgrade, not an individual package. With Win2k, you can add/remove it in the control panel. I would have a hunt round for something that reverts it back to WMP 6x. Or some sort of batch script which copies the old WMP files off the windows cd and reverts it back to the old version. It might be possible to remove all versions of WMP completely, but would be quite a mission. Just get a firewall and block it from accessing the net, and just use another player. It shouldn't use up any resources then. |
