183201 2003-10-14 08:51:00 I am wondering if I should try it (not sure if I am in the area).

I use Jetstream but only get 600kbps, and rent the modem for $30 per month, plus being stung $17 for domain holding per month. If I need to buy an ADSL router, maybe I should buy something else.

How have people found the speed?
robo.

183202 2003-10-14 08:56:00 You can only get it in Auckland, but I heard it was superb Far_Canal (4654)
183203 2003-10-14 08:58:00 Hi Robo

You can check whether you are in the covered area by going here: Woosh Availability (www.woosh.com).

Last time I checked, my area in Auckland wasn't going to be covered until mid 2005.

183207 2003-10-14 09:48:00 ummmm, $17 per MONTH for holding a domain? Sounds as if they're ripping you dude. -=JM=- (16)
183208 2003-10-14 10:44:00 Xtra's pricing for that are pretty high.. I went to FreeParking for a friend and found they could save hundreds a year.. There may be better deals out there yet! Chilling_Silently (228)
183209 2003-10-14 11:18:00 Robo - you still pay $30 a month for your router!???

If you buy an ADSL router you'll recover your investment in around 8 months!! What are you waiting for? You can get a wireless capable router for under $300 now!! Then you can spend more time answering PressF1 queries from all round your house! ;-)

183210 2003-10-14 18:42:00 I know, I know, but I like the M1122 .

I've checked and Woosh comes to Pt Chevalier North (never knew there was a North, like Te Atatatu) end of October - not far away .

I know I am being ripped by the ISP, they took over domain charge from Domainz without permission and went from $70 a year or something to $17 a month (doublilng cost) .

Going completely wireless sounds like a plan, Woosh and 802 . 11b for hard to reach parts of the house . Have ethernet already between house and garage though .
