182879 2003-10-13 22:32:00 I am wanting to talk to someone who can help with setting up a Wi-Fi network in a small office with 4 computers. We currently run either XP Ro or WIN2000 Pro on these machines and also have a jetstream connection. Davehold (4536)
182880 2003-10-13 22:56:00 Are you wanting every PC to have access to the Jetstream connection? CYaBro (73)
182881 2003-10-14 08:58:00 Yes I would like them to have jetstream ideally but I may need to set up a server to do that. I am concerned about security over wireless and also the issue of network security as well.

Thanks

Dave

182882 2003-10-14 10:08:00 Win2K and WinXP Pro (Home's not as good, consider an upgrade) are by far the best OS's (Aside from Linux) for networking with.

Enabling WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol) and any other security features once your network is going peachy will lock it down.

It's probably easiest if you setup a WinXP machine as the host, and have a connection to the router/modem on that PC, you can then set it up to share the internet connection across the rest of your LAN easily :-)

What cards are you looking at for Wireless? USB? Internal?
