| 183477 | 2003-10-15 02:03:00 | I have a laptop with winME and I am trying to add on an external cdwriter. When initially plugged in it starts looking for drivers. The cdwriter manual says to put the floppy in and select the option to search the floppy for drivers. I managed to get that far but it starts looking but does nothing. I give up after about 10mins, but should I be waiting longer? Neither the hard drive or the floppy drive appear to do anything. Now in the system window (in the control panel) it shows all the hardware, and the new HP cdwriter with a big yellow question mark. Does anyone know how to get the drivers in without mannually moving them from floppy to the correct folder?? Simon |

If you can, run any installers that may be on the Disk/CD before plugging it in. From there, plug it in and let it "Search for the drivers" on its own, it should be one of the options and it should check the Floppy drive. What is the Writer? Have you got any other USB Devices to check that you've got USB Setup correctly (Or check in the Device Manager there's nothing beside your USB Controllers). Cheers Chill. |

There should be an option in one of the tabs to update/install driver. Click that then let it search the floppy disk. Or you can browse to the correct directory the drivers are located. It should find them otherewise when it pops up to select a driver go have disk and select the correct driver on the disk. | rsnic (3780) | ||
