| 183374 | 2003-10-22 07:32:00 | > so now what? havent heard back from todays man.... > what if any ideas come to hand? To be brutely honest with you Beetle :), I think you have done a complete loop and you are back to the beginning again with the delayed bootup. Quit mucking about with it, let the Tech take it away and return it only when it is correctly diagnosed and fixed. Or find another computer Tech to deal with it. Also investigate the warranty option as already suggested. Jen :) |

| 183379 | 2003-10-22 08:12:00 | Tried booting the computer in Safe Mode? Something like holding down F8 or Shift while the computer boots, and it should show a menu... select Safe Mode. Except with XP it's different, but it should be quite similar. |

| 183380 | 2003-10-22 09:09:00 | Its back how it was? oh no. As Beetle stated when i arrived this morning we booted the computer and it took about 6 minutes to turn on,after getting into windows i disabled everything apart from the anti-virus and the spool driver. After doing so the computer immediatly(well after a boot, which only took the normal time) became instantly responcive and all performence issues seemed to have disapeared.I probly booted the machine another 4 times while i was there and i would have given it a clean bill of health based on what i saw. And now after sitting turned off for a few hours its back how it was. All i can suggest is booting the computer again and having a look in the start up(run>msconfig>startup) and looking to see if any of the programs i disabled have re-started.Remember that i only left 2 ticked. If nothing has changed thier then the next step is to swap out some hardware ..... |

| 183381 | 2003-10-22 09:10:00 | please note i may have made it sound a little off and i think very highly of metla and his help today. and he has a good strong amount of knowledge of seeing how my puter does and doesnt work. he has given me a few days to work through and see what may get better or not. and it may need furthor work. i know i do. so thank you metla, much appreciate the time and help you gave me today. and i need to put foot in mouth much more.... to shut it up... beetle |
